PART 1: THE BOOKLET

OVERVIEW

The project is created based on the heritage of the fashion designer himself showcased at Musee du YSL in Paris, aiming to highlight the unforgettable moments and achievements in the history of Yves Saint Laurent. The project starts with image research, choice of typography, and style of page spread, sampling the elegance and classiness of the designer into the booklet design in order to briefly produce a nostalgic feel linked to Yves Saint Laurent’s life achievement and fashion philosophy.

DESIGN

In terms of style, the booklet is designed with bold clarity and simplicity. The design of the spread is structured on a geometric system, but also organic in text and imagery placement, creating a sense of organized design with a visible visual variation. Predominantly, imagery takes up the space as the primary element in the spreadsheet.

Two font types are used in the booklet, representing the classical heritage preserved in the brand and the designer’s personal contributions to moving fashion forward into the modern world.
